What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
A bit of Everything really…. Imagine if you will a journey from Breakbeat to Balearic being beaten up by Dubstep and Drum’n'Bass along the way and having to recover slowly with a cup of tea made by Mr Scruff whilst listening to Schneider TM cover the Smiths, then deciding to go out again that night even though you hurt, to go and see Jack Beats fight with the Wu Tang…..well…….something like that anyway .
How did you get into this type of music?
By working in a record shop and generally acquiring many thousands of pounds of debts buying every record we could get our hands on ( Benny once spent 150 quid in one shop in one hit on records by Jeff Mills- whilst hungover admittedly..) and going to every gig eveerywhere put on by anyone in the last 10 years
How long have you been DJing?
Together about 11 years…separately even longer……Dear God I feel old…….
How did you start DJing?
Well…..keeps us off the streets innit…….
Can we find you DJing anywhere other than on Phonic FM?
You can find us as resident Djs at any ‘Beatz & Bobz‘ or ‘Joint‘ night in and around Exeter, or headlining at many many clubs around the UK from London to Leeds and festivals from Glastonbury to the Glade.
What has been your most embarrassing DJing moment?
Lex : I once fell off the back of a 25ft stage whilst djing to 10,000 Spanish ravers at the Breaks Nation Festival in Seville and got lost in the dark underneath for 10 minutes whimpering for my mummy..…and a torch….
What has been your best DJing moment?
Probably our 1st set at Glastonbury in 2001 where we played the ’secret’ Thursday night stage to well…basically the whole festival coz it’s the only music on that night ….Any Djs dream fulfilled right there me thinks.
Who is your favourite artist?
Where to start………….Benny says his is Autechre…….I couldn’t possibly fit them all in.
Why?
It all depends on the mood of the moment…….Do you ‘wanna lay down by the fire’ or get you raving boots on?
What is your all time favourite album? Why?
Its just not possible to answer either question without being in a pub with 2 or 3 mates, 7 pints in going.. ” No!…No!…..NO!…its ‘Songs in the Key of Life‘……”Nah mate its gotta be ‘The Brown Album‘…….Don’t be a @£*& it’s The Clash-’The Clash‘

Tunes to get your Rave on to and keep you on the mellow all at the same time.
Why do you like this music?
Couldn’t possibly tell you ….we’d get nicked.
What is the format of your show?
Playing tunes and forgetting to tell you what they were because we are too busy chatting total nonsense.
Why should we listen to your show?
Because I know where you live………
How did your show come about?
By getting involved in the very first Vibraphonic festival & radio station and some muppet thinking it was a good idea to put us on the airwaves ….and of course being internationally award nominated globe trekking breakbeat duo Ben & Lex.
What goes on behind the scenes in the studio?
If I’m honest ……Swearing…Lots of swearing…..so we don’t do it on air….it’s like hanging out with a couple of drunk navvies off air I tell ya….
What has been you best on air moment?
Generally everything haha……We really are rather good you know and we just enjoy every show as if it was the last……because knowing us two it very well may be :)
What has been your worst/ most embarrassing on air moment?
Leaving the mic up and arguing like a married couple about what to play next…Or alternatively when randoms wander into the studio and just stand there haha… Err……Hello?…….Must get some security I think…
