TWO talented Exeter DJs are competing against famous household names for an international music award.
Ben Ervine and Alex Shellard — aka Ben & Lex — have been nominated in the Best Radio Show category at this year’s International Breakbeat awards.
The pair, who host the fortnightly Beatz & Bobz internet radio show on www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk, are up against Radio 1 DJs Annie Nightingale and Annie Mac, Kiss FM’s Jay Cunning and the Strongarm Sessions hosted by Elite Force.
They have been hosting their show for six years but this is the first time they have been nominated at the event. The ceremony takes place at Fabric in London tonight. Note: thurs feb 28
Alex said: “We are very pleased to be nominated alongside professionals of that calibre. Nominations were decided by a public vote, which means a lot”
The friends have been DJing together for around 10 years and also make their own music. They have their own record label, Ape, as well as releasing their music through Exeter-based label Functional.
They are resident DJs at Beatz & Bobz, one of the country’s longest-running breakbeat nights, and are currently hosting a show on Exeter’s community radio station, Phonic 106.2 FM, as part of the Vibraphonic festival.
The awards show is tonight @ Fabric in London so I'll post up all the winners in the morning.
Benny.
