Review : Blue Effect 'Stop' [Functional]

Just stumbled upon this sweet review...

The Vitals:

Label: Functional Records
Genre: Breaks/Dubstep
Number of Tracks: 2
Dunamis' Take:

Blue Effect members Dan Cahill and Phil Licinio bring to you another nice breaks track "Stop", along with a great remix from Ben & Lex.

"Stop" is a great track by Blue Effect. First, I'm really digging the swing of the synths, giving a nice Caribbean, Latin feel to the track. The dubstep rhythm keeps this song interesting. All the intriguing sounds and the bassline give it nice appeal, too. The only reason that I wouldn't give this track a 4 out of 5 is that I would like the tempo to be bit faster. By the time you get to near the five-minute mark, the track feels like it drags.

I like the Ben & Lex Mix out of the two. It takes all the dubstep and interesting points of the original track and packages it into a breaks/progressive breaks style. The additional edits add nice flare to the remix. Additionally, the remix leaves out some of the bass parts from the original track that some might not like. Great remix, guys.

Whatever your style, both tracks are good and should be put in your breaks collection. Be on the lookout for this release and more tracks this year from Blue Effect on Functional Records. Also, watch for tracks from Ben & Lex on their own label, Ape Records, this year.
