New Autechre Album

Woo hoo this is the greatest news I've heard in a while.

Autechre have broken their silence since the release of 2005's acclaimed Untilted album, by revealing their follow-up record is named Quaristice.

So far, the album is scheduled for March 3rd 2008 for release through Warp Records and the LP marks the ninth album to date for the influential electronica duo.

The! New Years Eve Party

Now I know its a bit early but I want to make sure you all come to this :)

THE! NEW YEARS EVE PARTY

This will be the 7th New Years Eve Party where Beatz & Bobz and DMF join together with the Phoenix to put on the best NYE party in the South West. Radio One have called it “the best value NYE Party in the UK”.

The event has seen changes and improvements to the lay out each year to make the event more enjoyable and this one is set to be the best yet. The action will be taking place in a heated marquee in the grounds, the auditorium, bar gallery and the front gallery and will be featuring Breaks, Drum & Bass, House, Funk, Dub and Hip Hop so there will be something for everyone.

Exeter’s long running club night Beatz & Bobz host the Auditorium with a mixture of Breaks, House and just plain good party music. Special guests are the mighty Aquasky who are capping of what for them and their Passenger label has been a massive year for releases and gigs with the headline spot in Exeter. Supporting them will be the cream of the Exeter DJ talent with Ben & Lex and DJ Andromeda, the JamTheChannel DJs and special guest Lewis Hopkin (Renaissance) laying down some dirty House to finish of the night

The Rinseout Drum & Bass Arena in the Marquee will be playing the best in upfront D & B & liquid with a few classics thrown in 4 good measure. Headlining the room is the front man of Formation Records, which has been one of the most prominent Drum & Bass labels for for over 10 years, DJ SS. Not only that we have only the South West`s finest support with Mastervibe who has put Newquay on the D&B map and has been playing at the country`s biggest events since day 1. Alongside them is Mr Nice , Rinseout front man also voted South Wests No1 DJ, Script MC (voted No1 South West MC), Fuze & Moonie (1Nation & Slammin Vinyl residents), Darko from Plymouths No1 DnB night and not forgetting Exeter finest Maxxi P & Johnny G representing the Rinseout Camp

On my travels around the net I've discovered this program called Processing.

Processing is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to program images, animation, and interactions. It is used by students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists for learning, prototyping, and production. It is created to teach fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context and to serve as a software sketchbook and professional production tool. Processing is developed by artists and designers as an alternative to proprietary software tools in the same domain.

Been looking at some of the example of the stuff you can produce with Processing so I'm thinking of using it somehow to make Metro Boy videos, when I'll find time to do this I have no idea but hopefully soon.

Such an awesome night for our 10th birthday and the fact we rammed both rooms with breaks is unbeliveable, hurrah to Exeter. Massive, massive thanks to everyone who came and got there rave on and all the djs for traveling down and givin it a good old rinse. huzzahs all round

Social Networks

I was having a think today while at work about the amount of social networks I'm on and yet rarely use.

Facebook and MySpace are of course the big daddies of them all and I regularly use these but I'm also on Titter, Jaiku, Pownce and to be honest don't see the point. I can't decide weather to persevere with them and see what happens or just delete my accounts... hmm... I think I'll roll with them till the new year and see what happens as I know Google have just bought Jaiku so it will be interesting to see what they do with it.

Tonight is going to see one of the biggest breaks parties in the South West EVER.

Having been with Beatz & Bobz for the past 9 years its amazing how far its come. Not just a little night in Exeter, its now a major playing in the international breaks scene. So if you in the area get your arse down to Exeter and join us for this years birthday celebrations.



I'm still thinking of putting together a book to commemorate 10 years of 'Breakin Breaks' using photos from all the Beatz and Bobz parties. I just need to find to time to get all the images together :)

Being Ill

Totally sucks balls :(

But it has its upside as I've spent some time making these widgets for Brap.fm & NSB Radio. You do need Yahoo Widgets to make these work but I'm working on making these as stand alone widgets for Dashboard, Facebook, Myspace etc.

Also while laid up in bed, being all ill, I completed Zelda Phantom Hourglass so I've put that up on ebay now along with a load of other stuff as I'm trying to make some money for the wedding fund.

Finally this Friday I'll be dusting off my raving shoes as I'm playing along side a who's who of breaks DJ's at Heaven in London, so if your in the area pop in and say hello.

Fingers crossed that a weekend of raving doesn't make my flu come back like it did last weekend haha ah well such is life, if I'm ill again next week ill work on some new Metro Boy tunes :)

After a lovely summer hiatus for some slighty damp festival Djing action the Ape massive are back for some more mental monkey business.

For Ape 8 we have brought you something a bit different...

For this release done a bit of a collaboration with the awesome new label Polar Red. Earlier in the year label head honchos Ben & Lex did a remix for the Polar Red head honchos, the northern monkeys known as '601' for their tune 'Grymee'.

It was a digital only release but Ben & Lex liked their remix so much it didnt take them long to sign the whole release back to Ape so it could get the vinyl outing both tunes deserved.

601 who have recently have had great success on their own label as well as others such as Hot to Trot, have done us proud and for the vinyl have done a VIP mix of 'Grymee' that blows the roof off, Big, bad and definitely bruising.

This release is essential so dont miss out!! It been out before so we know its a killer.

Tis A Sad Day

Yesterday I bought my last records from Lee Waller at Reform Records in Exeter. A very sad day indeed as Lee has been selling me tunes now for well over 7 years. With the decline in vinyl sales over the years it also looks like Reform Records might have to close down as well soon :(

but on the up side I bought the new Luke Vibert album 'Chicago, Detroit, Redruth'



I totally recommend buying this as its awesome.

Ohh and if your around Exeter tonight were having a party at Amber Rooms to celebrate all the years of Lee selling tunes at Reform :)

Gak Design

Well its a quiet day at work so I've got off my fat lazy arse and sorted out my Gak Design Blog. Its basically full of paintings, photographs, websites and misc artwork that I've made.

Hopefully it might get me a bit more freelance work, but if not then its a nice collection of the stuff I've done :)

Bioshock

Logged into my Steam account for the first time in ages last night and while bumbling around on the games I could buy I noticed Bioshock. Now unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months then you'll probably know this is one of the hottest games out there at the moment, so I bought it :)

Played it for about 20 minutes this morning before leaving for work, so I haven't had a decent bash at it yet, but it looks and plays awesome... I can't wait to finish work and get home for some serious gaming action.
