FOREVER EP is his debut release, but this soundboy has more than 15 years bass bizz
under his belt, being a member of the notorious drum'n bass veterans SOLID FRAME.

His original comes with such a wide sound, trippy sparkling effects, reverbed guitars & longing voices from outer space, pushed by a pitchdown roller of a dubstep beat. Deep & beautiful.

And the following mixes just appear in the order of a homogene and narrative line by listening to all of them, but i can tell you, they are all epic, each one a favourite:

We wanted them as remix artists for a long time, as we simply love their sounds & nature, and it was a huge pleasure to recieve an off-beat monster breakbeat remix from UK badboys BEN & LEX: big bad sounds, and a heavy bassline creeping in your ear and never let you go again.

Some tasty tricks from our very own HANUMAN TRIBE, who twisted a hevyweight highscale calories inside-out maki: comes as a breaks mix, turns into dubstep madness, and back and forward again.

We return to the spacy atmopsheres, this time topped by propulsive techy sounds from SKETI,
who made some serious riots in the breaks scene with his latest releases, and also this one is pure blistering breaks with a festival edge.

And last but not least HANUMAN TRIBE rescued the catchy synthline from an almost forgotten older banger, which one even the STANTON WARRIORS have been shaking their heads to, and interwaved it with the FOREVER sound, to give another yummi FREEBIE to the people!

 Lex and I had the pleasure of warming up for DJ Yoda last night in Exeter for his 'Stop, Look and Listen' Tour and even though I have seen Yoda a whole bunch of times last night was next level.

I filmed a bunch of it, annoyingly not on my flip just on my camera so the quality is a bit poor.















Now to sort out some CD's as were doing it all again in Plymouth tonight and this time I'll remember to pack my flip ;)

What a busy week at Ape Towers and Ben & Lex HQ... After last Fridays amazing STANDOUT gig, we carried on with some midweek rave action in the form of 2 killer gigs with the mighty Krafty Kuts who, in the down time in between them, joined Lex in the studio for the making of some 'monster cheeky beatz' as the man like Krafty would say... watch this space for its release some time in the near future.

Not content with just the one collaboration for the week we were joined on Friday for a marathon late night studio session by the heavyweight sounds of the Afghan Headspin and thrashed out a blinding bit of bad boy bass music!!!!

Here is the exclusive interview Lex an I did for the brand new magazine from SWU which hits the shops today.

One thing than can definitely be said about Ben and Lex, they certainly are very, very busy boys. DJing and producing collectively for over 10 years. This pair have certainly ticked a lot off their ever more ambitious musical 'to do' list. Producing a back catalog of awesome tunes, launching and successfully running their own record label Ape music. Within their home grown record label finding time to nurture new talent under their creative well and truly gigged wings. As well as produce their own tracks and remixed an abundance of masterpieces.

Offering up probably the best live breakbeat sets in the South West. Ben and Lex are certainly well traveled playing with International DJs such as Rennie Pilgrem, Freq Nasty and The Freestylers along the way. Being unofficially crowned King and errm King of South West Breakbeat Ben and Lex have quite a collection of awards.
Bagging awards 2 years running at the South West drum n bass awards for 'Best Breaks DJ' and 'Outstanding Contribution to the Breaks scene' as well as a Breakspoll for their bi-weekly radio show.

With this being the very first issue of SWU Magazine we thought it was only fair to ask these two local legends a few questions.

Holy Crap!!! Ben & Lex's 'Makaton' get 5/5 in this months DJ Mag. BLAM!!!

Even though you could only really drop this to the most full-on mentalist crowd, I fucking love the VIP of this. West country dudes Ben & Lex throw the kitchen sink into this one: galloping breaks, a mangled fax machine, a ferocious electronic top line, and then skewed, trill, dutty Caspa dubstep bassonomics all make their mark before the first drop. It's an opening salvo that Squarepusher at his most bonkers would be proud of, and after the calm melodic drop there's more of the same wobble yob bass mentalism. The competent other mixes - a breaks one by Anarchy Rice, madcap electro from Viro & Rob Analyze - can't really compete.
